The Dionisio Llanca Case
A young truck driver stopped at night to change a tyre, and was found hours later, unable to remember who he was.
What was reported
Early on 28 October 1973, Dionisio Llanca, a 26-year-old truck driver, stopped on Route 3 near Bahía Blanca to change a flat tyre. Hours later he was found wandering in a confused state, unable to remember his name, and was taken to hospital.
Over the following days, as his memory returned, and later under hypnosis, he described a yellow light, a craft hovering over the road, and three blond figures who took him aboard and took a sample of his blood.
Explanations offered
Doctors found him in a genuine state of shock and memory loss. Sceptics suggest he suffered a medical episode and that details were shaped by hypnosis and questioning. Supporters note that he was a quiet man with no interest in publicity.
