The Trancas Case
On a cold night in northern Argentina, a family saw glowing craft by the railway line, and beams of solid light reaching towards their house.
What was reported
On the evening of 21 October 1963, the household at a farm near Trancas, in Tucumán, saw a series of lights near the railway line beside their property. Two of the Moreno family's daughters went out with a torch and saw, they said, a disc-shaped object with lit windows hovering low over the ground.
Over the next hour, the family described several craft and beams of light, like solid tubes, that moved slowly towards the house and gave off heat. The local police and a judge took statements.
Explanations offered
No explanation has been confirmed. Sceptics have suggested railway workers with lamps or a military operation, but neither matches all of the family's account. Investigators at the time found the witnesses credible.
