Jimmy Carter's Sighting
Years before he became president, Jimmy Carter filed a report about a bright light that changed colour over Georgia.
What was reported
In 1969, before a Lions Club meeting in Leary, Georgia, Jimmy Carter and around ten others watched a light in the western sky that he said was as bright as the moon, changed colour and seemed to come closer before moving away.
Carter filed a report in 1973, while governor. As a presidential candidate he said he had seen a UFO and promised to release government files.
Explanations offered
The researcher Robert Sheaffer compared the time and direction with the sky that evening and concluded Carter had seen the planet Venus, which was very bright in the west. Carter himself said he didn't think it was from another world, only that he couldn't identify it.
