What was reported

Rumours have long described a secret underground railway beneath Moscow, built in the Soviet era and nicknamed Metro-2, linking the Kremlin with government bunkers, military sites and an airport.

Explanations offered

The Russian government has never confirmed or denied that it exists. Many researchers think some secret tunnel system does exist, as in other capitals, but its size and routes are unknown, and many details in circulation are speculation.
