The road ran straight for a hundred kilometres. We still passed the same motel twice.
The motel's neon sign was half dead, one 'O' not lit. We passed it and laughed about a motel in the middle of nowhere.
Forty minutes later the same motel appeared. The same dark 'O', the same red ute parked outside. The road had not turned once. We pulled over and waited for daylight.
