The sky over Hanle was so clear the Milky Way cast shadows. One star stopped, then moved the wrong way.
We were shooting star trails. One light was turning slowly with all the others, the way it should. Then it stopped.
It held still for three minutes. Then it changed direction, against the stars, at the same slow speed, and sank below the horizon. In every frame on the camera, that trail is broken.
