Something sat on the boulder, the same colour as the rock. When we got close, the boulder was empty.
The trek group left early. On a large rock sat a figure, knees drawn up, head bowed. We took it for a herder.
Our guide greeted it. It raised its head. Then we went round a bend, and when the rock came back into view there was nothing on it but frost.
