There were footprints in the mud. Every one pointed backwards, and each stride was longer than the last.
It was a monsoon trek and it had rained all night. Someone had walked the trail before us. Bare feet, but with the toes at the back.
Our guide didn't stop us taking photos. He only said we would not come back this way. We went down the other path, which took three hours longer.
