Shag Harbour
Villagers watched a row of lights dive into the sea, then a glow floating on the water.
What was reported
Late on the night of 4 October 1967, several people in the fishing village of Shag Harbour reported lights coming down at an angle and hitting the water. Thinking a plane had crashed, they called the police.
Officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and local fishing boats went out to search. They found a patch of yellowish foam but no wreckage, and no aircraft was reported missing.
