The Molebka Triangle
In a forest in the Urals, a geologist found a perfect circle in the snow. The area soon became Russia's most famous UFO zone.
What was reported
In 1983, Emil Bachurin, a geologist from Perm, was hunting in the forests near the village of Molebka, in the Ural region, when he said he found a large, perfectly round track in the snow, about 60 metres across. He returned with researchers to study the area.
When the story reached the press in 1989, the 'M-Triangle' became famous. Visitors have reported lights in the sky, glowing spheres, and odd feelings in the woods, and it now draws researchers and tourists each summer.
Explanations offered
No physical evidence has been found that clearly points to anything unusual. Sceptics say that once a place is known for strange events, visitors expecting to see something interpret ordinary lights, sounds and feelings that way. Supporters point to the number of reports.
