Igopogo
An Ontario lake has a monster with a dog-like face, named after its more famous cousin Ogopogo.
What was reported
Igopogo, also called Kempenfelt Kelly, is said to live in Lake Simcoe, north of Toronto. Witnesses describe a dark creature with a dog-like or seal-like face, sometimes with a long neck or fins.
Stories of a creature in the lake are said to go back to the region's First Nations, and modern sightings date from the 1950s onwards, including a sonar trace recorded by a fisherman in 1983.
Explanations offered
Suggestions include seals that strayed inland, otters, large fish such as sturgeon, and floating logs. The lake is relatively shallow, and no physical evidence has been found.
