The Bimini Road
In 1968, divers off Bimini found a long line of flat stone blocks on the seabed, just as a famous psychic had predicted signs of Atlantis would appear.
What was reported
In 1968, divers including J. Manson Valentine found a straight, half-kilometre line of flat, rectangular limestone blocks lying in shallow water off North Bimini in the Bahamas. It looked like a road or wall.
The American psychic Edgar Cayce had predicted decades earlier that part of Atlantis would rise near Bimini in 1968 or 1969, and many saw the 'Bimini Road' as the fulfilment of his prophecy.
Explanations offered
Geologists who studied it concluded it is beachrock, a natural limestone that forms along shorelines and cracks into rectangular slabs. Radiocarbon dating showed the blocks formed a few thousand years ago in place, not as a built structure. Some Atlantis enthusiasts still dispute this.
